Sophia Bednarik is a graduate of the Maryland Institute College of Art (M|I|C/A) with a Bachelors of Fine Art in Photography.
In 2011, she donated one of her paintings to the "Just World International Foundation" for a silent auction to benefit children in need around the world. From 2009-2010, she was a full-time Media Production Intern at Discovery Channel Communications for Discovery Creative/Animal Planet producer Marley Bunce. Today, she presently works as a freelance photographer and commissioned artist. She is well known for her oil portraiture and drawing abilities. Her photographic abilities earned her employment under On The Ball Sports Magazine (OTBS) where she is currently pursuing her longtime passion for sports photography. Nearly each week her photographic press coverage of highlighted sporting events has been published in online editorials. Under OTBS, in December 2013, Sophia provided full photographic coverage of the MD State High School Football Championships at the Baltimore Raven's own M&T Bank Stadium. From a fine art perspective, she has evolved an avid interest in drawing visual similarities between people and systems. Currently, much of her personal art work consists of visual and written explorations of medicine and science articulated through photographic processes. She utilized her time at M|I|C/A to build upon this evolving dynamic by relating it to various scientific phenomena of everyday life. As a result of her efforts, from September to December in 2013, she served an internship under Director of Hopkins Pathology Photography and Associate Professor, Norman Barker, with the Johns Hopkins Medical Institution. Her Under Graduate Thesis Exhibition, Fovea, impliments these ideals. Originally from Highland, MD, she is now operating out of Baltimore City.
