Sophia Bednarik is a Senior Undergraduate Photography Major at the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA)
In 2011, she donated one of her paintings to the "Just World International Foundation" for a silent auction to benefit children in need around the world. From 2009-2010, she was a full-time Media Production Intern at Discovery Channel Communications for Discovery Creative/Animal Planet producer Marley Bunce. Today, she presently works as a freelance photographer and commissioned artist. Her photographic abilities recently earned her employment under On The Ball Sports Magazine where she is currently pursuing her longtime passion for sporting photography. Nearly each week her photographic press coverage of highlighted sporting events has been published. From a fine art perspective, she has evolved an avid interest in drawing visual similarities between people and systems. Currently, much of her fine art work consists of visual and written explorations of medicine and science articulated through photographic processes. She presently uses her time at MICA to build upon this evolving dynamic by relating it to various scientific phenomena of everyday life. As a result of her efforts, she is presently serving an internship under the head of Hopkins Pathology Photography, Norman Barker, with the Johns Hopkins Medical Institution. Originally from Highland, MD, she is now operating out of Baltimore City.
