Sophia Bednarik is an undergraduate photography major at the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA)

In 2011, she donated one of her paintings to the "Just World International Foundation" for a silent auction to benefit children in need around the world.  From 2009-2010, she was a full-time intern at the Discovery Channel for Discovery Creative/Animal Planet producer Marley Bunce.  Today, she presently works as a freelance photographer and painter.  Aside from her artistic world, since her youth, she remains a serious equestrian.  Because of her equestrian identity, she started by experimenting with different ways to develop and express relationships between horses and art and from these experiments has evolved an avid interest in drawing visual similarities between people and systems. Currently, much of her personal artwork consists of visual and written explorations of medicine and science articulated through photographic processes. Today, she uses her time at MICA to build upon this evolving dynamic by relating it to various scientific phenomena of everyday life.  Originally from Highland, MD, she is now operating out of Baltimore City.
